Beaux
Regards Photographic Art
by Marjorie Sardella
- I have been in
love with photography since I received my first camera, a Brownie, at
age ten. I painted in oils for several years, but eventually
returned to my first love, photography. My experience in oils is
reflected in my photographs, which are often mistaken for
paintings. I have taken photography courses at Boston College,
and through these courses and my early experience with
black-and-white photography, I came to love the process
of creating a finished photo from a negative in the darkroom, skills I
now apply to my photographs in the "digital darkroom".
- I love photographing the beauty and
power of nature, the intricate
landscape of cities, the joy of friendship and play, and finding
the
large in the small – streets that invite viewers to walk down them,
doors that beckon people inside, the colorful splash or eloquent grace
of a flower, the small details that are worlds in themselves. I
believe that we all need beauty to nourish
our souls as much as we need food to nourish our bodies. Art, in
all
its forms, has the power to heal, renew and strengthen our spirit.
- I have photographed extensively in the
northeastern United States, as well as in
France, Italy, Austria, England, Scotland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
I have
received numerous awards for my work, and for the past several years
have maintained a photo
blog on my Beaux
Regards Photographic Art Facebook page. You can also follow me on Instagram, and your comments are always appreciated.
I am an active member of the Franklin Art Association and the Franklin
Downtown Partnership. For
several years I also had an appointment as a Visiting Scholar at Boston
College. A New England native, I reside in Franklin, MA with my
husband.
